What is an allround Paddle Board?
An allround Paddle Board is especially ideal for novice paddlers. An all-around board is generally very stable thanks to its width and high volume. The ideal of an all-round board is that you can use it for multiple purposes. This way you can take small trips with it, go through the canals or even surf a wave! An all-round board is therefore ideal if you plan to do everything with your SUP. An all round SUP is generally not too fast, but as a novice supper you are not yet concerned with speed. You are mainly concerned with finding your balance. And a stable all-round board is ideal for that.
Characteristics of an all-round SUP
- In general a high volume and wide, and therefore nice and stable
- Short, making it manoeuvrable and ideal for surfing
- A rounded nose, which also helps with stability
- Compact and therefore easy to carry
- Not quickly, due to the compact design
Types of all-round Paddle Boards
All-round SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Boards are available in various types. You have all-round boards in inflatable (inflatable) form, but also in non-inflatable (hardboard) form. There are major differences between an inflatable and hardboard all-round SUP. It is therefore important that you think carefully about your choice if you want to go for an inflatable or hardboard all-round SUP. Please take note of the questions below if you are still in doubt.
Inflatable or hardboard?
Consider the questions below if you are in doubt between an inflatable or hardboard all-round SUP Board:
- How often do you go to a different location? In other words, do you want to inflate your SUP every day or tie the SUP to the roof?
- Do you have roof racks on your car? If not, an inflatable SUP board will probably be a better choice
- Can you bear the weight of a hardboard? If not, consider getting an inflatable Paddle board.
- Do I want to manually inflate my SUP every day? If not, take a hardboard or an electric SUP pump
Who is an all-round Paddle Board suitable for?
An all-round board is mainly aimed at the novice supper, so it is also most suitable for this. This is mainly due to the stable, agile and not fast shape that an all-round board has. An all round Stand Up Paddle Board is also ideal for the supper who sometimes also wants to surf with his SUP. Thanks to the compactness, maneuverability and stability of an all-round SUP, you can also enjoy a wave with it. If you are a supper with a bit more experience, we recommend the best touring paddle board. This is mainly because an all-round board quickly becomes too slow for someone who has more experience with supping. For advanced paddlers we would also recommend a touring sup board, or the best racing paddle board with a wider center base. But this of course depends on the end goal for which you want to use the SUP. So think carefully about your end goal first!
For which applications is an all-round board intended?
An all-round SUP is intended for small pieces of SUP. All-round SUPS are therefore used with names for the following purposes:
- To learn how to paddle board as a beginner
- SUP short distances
- Stand up paddling through canals
- To Surf
